Spring Mini's at Maplelawn | Zionsville Family Photographer

One location I keep going back to is Maplelawn Farmstead in Zionsville - it offers a diverse setting with old barns and nature and it can be both a good morning and evening location.  I'm grateful that the Board of Directors of the farmstead allows me and other photographers to hold sessions there.  Maplelawn dates back to the early 1800's and was owned by a couple different families until the 2000's. In 2003 the land was sold to the town of Zionsville for the development of a school, but the historical society in Zionsville petitioned to the parks board to preserve it and make it a historical museum.  The farmstead currently holds camps in the summer for kids, has movie nights on the lawn, and hosts several other activities throughout the year.  Check out their website at: http://www.maplelawnfarmstead.org.

Three families participated in my Maplelawn mini's this spring and each one had it's own special meaning.

My first session was with the Kluesner's, whom I took maternity and newborn photos for them last year.  I know I always say this, but it is SO fun watching my clients' families grow and grow.  John Thomas, their "newborn" from last October, was now seven months old and had obviously changed SO much.  And 3 year-old Henry was as energetic as I remember.  The SAD thing about this session was it was probably my last with the Kluesner's as they broke the news to me that they were moving to Atlanta in mid-June.  I always love catching up with them and we have seen them at various events since we have mutual friends, so I'm going to miss seeing them around and watching their family grow.  So a huge thanks to the Kluesner's for being such amazing clients and I will miss you!!!

My second session also holds a special place in my heart because it involves adoption.  This session was to help honor the day the Parsons family brought their son Noah into their family legally.  They had fostered young Noah since he was three months old and now he is a sweet three year-old.  Some may know and some may not, but I was adopted as a baby and I always love hearing happy stories about adoption because obviously it changes lives for the better.  Big brother Isiah and little sis Gabrielle were also included in some pics to honor the day.  Such a sweet family and I wish them the best!  Noah is one blessed little man!  And he was awesome for photos! Kara, I'll take photos of him any day!!

My last Maplelawn mini involved yet another old PwC friend.  Rachel (mom) and I worked together at PwC about 10 years ago (really has it been that long??!!!) and both of us since have taken the marriage and mommy route in life.  I LOVE how photography has allowed me to reconnect with some old friends. She and her husband, Matt, have two adorable little girls, Hannah (2.5 years) and Hayley (4 months).  Hayley wasn't too sure about the photos but Hannah was loving it.  I loved her sweetness and her energy and I especially loved some of the wagon shots we got of her. I hope to see Rachel more often since they are soon moving to the Zionsville area and closer to me.  (:
