Introduction

My name is Kelly Martin, owner and operator of Kelly Martin Photography.  I am a wife, a mother, a runner, a coach, a golfer, a country girl, a CPA, and a professional photographer.  I was born and raised in Northwest Indiana, attended Ball State University, and moved to Indianapolis after graduation to work in the world of public accounting.  I met my husband on a cruise to the Western Caribbean (he's from Indianapolis too - crazy story) and we have since added to our family with our two silly boys, Louis and Nicholas and our beautiful (and fiesty) daughter Eden. My love for photography began when I was young and took photography as a project for several years in 4-H.  Motherhood has allowed me to be the photographer I want to be - I could never do this job without my children as they have instilled in me the patience and the know-how to deal with my kid clients.  I relate. I understand. Most importantly, I have fun with them.  My education and initial trade out of college was business and accounting-based, but I always had a creative and crafty side. Kelly Martin Photography combines both of those worlds and I LOVE it.   Photo credit: Whitney Leigh Photography (Michigan).

During each session I strive to get a variety of shots.  I love shooting at different angles and capturing details - your daughter's curls - your toddler's long eyelashes - your baby's tiny toes.  I also love when my clients want to get creative.   With young kids, I like to use simple props - kids love to sit on, stand on, jump off of, and hold things.  It makes them happy and it helps them act naturally.  I believe the best photographs evoke some type of emotion and tell a story.  With that said, I create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and is able to express themselves.  During portrait sessions I shoot a mix of posed (when I say posed, I mean casual and nonrigid - no awkwardness!) and candid images that highlight connection.

Sessions: Relaxed. Personalized. Fun.

My sessions are pretty laid-back and relaxed.  I want my clients to be as comfortable as possible because I completely understand that not everyone loves standing in front of the camera.  When you book a session, I send out a questionnaire to obtain information that helps me get to know you and all the members of your family that will be photographed.  This also allows you to communicate any desired look and feel you have for your session.  Listening to my clients is key and I will do my best to capture all requested shots and poses.  Your session will be personalized for your family's unique qualities.  Lastly, lets not forget about fun - I promise we'll make your session fun and afterwards you'll wonder where the time went. I know I always do!  Let's play!

My 10+ years in the corporate world prepared me well for the ins and outs of running my own business.  Not only am I the artist behind the camera, but I am a professional representing my brand and my business. I value my clients and treat everyone in an ethical and respectful manner. If you have any inquiries before, during, or after your session, I am responsive and provide quick and detailed answers.   I offer packages and pricing that are simple and easy to understand.  All sessions include digital images from the session with a print release.  You are able to use the digitals for your personal use.
