Johnny is ONE | Cake Smash | Indianapolis Children's Photographer

I first met the Moore family when baby John was 11 days old.  I had the honor of shooting his newborn session in their home.  One year later they came to my studio for some updated family pics and a cake smash.  Mom is a baker (like a real baker people - follow her on Instagram @moorepleasebaking) and she made the perfect little smash cake for her little man.  John was perfect - cute, smiley, and oh so polite with his cake.  Mom and Dad had to smear some frosting on him to give the cake smash effect.  Frosting or not, his session was adorable.  Happy birthday buddy!

Uninhibited | Lyle | Indianapolis Children's Photographer

So Lyle and I had a rough start.  Mom just wanted some sweet pics of Lyle to commemorate his 3rd birthday.  We met on the most gorgeous fall evening and I was ready to work the amazing sunset.  And well.....Lyle had other plans.....as in not taking photos.  He clung to his mom.  Cried.  Gave me some dirty looks.  (:  I pulled out all of my tricks.....my jokes (maybe that's where the dirty looks came from), my candy, my red wagon.....nope, not having it. So we hung it up and scheduled another day. 

This time a sun-kissed morning at one of my new favorite locations. Lyle brought his doggie and his toy school bus to help him feel comfortable.  He was still apprehensive at the beginning but we convinced him to search for dinosaurs in the tall grass and go explore.  He thought that falling down in the grass and getting back up was the most hilarious thing.  And we so we just went with it.  I followed him around on this exploration and he laughed and giggled and was just a kid.  Talk about some of the most natural and candid smiles I've ever captured.  This seriously ended up being one of my favorite sessions from the fall: nothing posed - just raw uninhibited happiness.  Ironic that before the session I was trying to think of what my plan was going to be if he was super shy again and didn't want me to take his photo.....and now it's one of my favs.  Unexpected is always the best, right??

Daddy's Girl | The Skarbek Family | Zionsville Family Photographer

First, I hope Alyssa (mom) isn't mad at me for my title.  Two month old Addison would NOT take her eyes off of daddy during our session.  She would stare and stare at him, give him some googly eyes, smile at him and so on.  And the affection was not a one way street.  Ian (daddy) was more than smitten with his little girl.  Can we say wrapped around his finger already? 

This session instantly became one of my favs.  Downtown Zionsville is so peaceful in the morning.  We met early and the sun was rising, creating a beautiful light, and the happiness of this new family of three was radiating.  I wish I could have a session like this every morning to start my day.  Perfection. 

So I know we discussed Addison's affection for daddy above, but she definitely loves her mommy too.  We got some sweet shots of mom and daughter that I hope they will treasure forever. 

Thanks so much to the Skarbek's for trusting me with their memories.  Don't blink, because Addison will be running around before you know it.  (:

Happy Go Lucky | The Chambers Family | Zionsville Family Photographer

Happy kids are THE best.  I do love a serious kid shot every now and then, especially when they are in deep thought, but an overall happy kid situation for a session is ideal.  Kids are the bosses, didn't you get the memo?  

I was connected with the Chamber's family through our mutual realtor, Amy Corey.  Side note: If you are looking for a great, wonderful, amazing realtor, look no further.  Amy and her husband, Jeff, are who you are looking for.  PM me for her info.  Anyway, we originally were going to have a summer session but scheduling and conflicts won out.  We postponed until the fall and we ended up with one amazing October evening.  Weather was perfect; kids were awesome; and the session just flowed.  

The session is playful and fun and full of vibrancy.  I know mom and dad were worried about Maggie warming up the camera.  I think the exact words in the questionnaire that Tara filled out was "shy around new people" and "does not like being the center of attention."  Well, erase that because Maggie was a model kid - laughing, playing, dancing......perfection.  (:  And little Charlie with his blonde hair - just wanted to kiss him!

Girls of Summer | The Wigand Girls | Zionsville Family Photographer

I met up with an old PwC co-worker of mine on a steamy and humid evening to capture some photos of her two girls.  Brooke and I worked together over 10 years ago (has it been THAT long???) and both of our lives have changed a lot since then.  I was excited to meet her two littles, Hadley and Norah.  We had fun chasing them around and generating some sweet smiles.  I think we also accomplished a few of the photos that sometimes are impossible - natural and fun sibling pictures.  (:  Thanks to the Wigand's for trusting me with capturing this time in the girls' lives and I can't wait to do it again!
