9 Months | Molly | Indianapolis Lifestyle Photographer

I do shoot a lot of lifestyle sessions, but they typically are for newborns.  So when the opportunity arose to photograph the Large family with their sweet 9 month old Molly in a lifestyle format, I was excited.  Our session was on a bright Sunday Mother's Day morning and we began our session by waking Molly from her morning nap.  And newsflash....she wakes up super happy!

Mom and Dad just wanted to capture their "little darling" as she is now - smiley, giggly and oh so wiggly!  You can see from many of the images she was trying to squirm her way out of mom and dad's arms.  She didn't mellow out until her mid-morning milk when we were able to end the session snuggling on the front stoop. Thanks so much to the Large's for sharing their sweet Molly with me.

Baby Caleb | Zionsville Newborn Photographer

Even though I photograph several newborns a month, I will never tire of the sweetness and unique qualities each baby brings.  Yes, I reuse props, blankets, wraps, furs, and accessories during my sessions (if I didn't I would be out of business because buying newborn props is an addiction! I mean, it's almost cuter than buying kids' clothes).  But even though some of those things stay the same, each newborn session is so unique.  I LOVE creating these individual, timeless treasures for parents.  It's so cliche but they grow so fast and never ever, ever, ever again will they be this small, sleepy, innocent, and precious.  Trust me, they get bigger, and louder, and opinionated.  (:  (just speaking from experience).

Caleb was the sweetest!  He conked out right at the beginning of his session and I never saw his eyes.  It seriously was one of the easiest, peaceful, relaxed newborn sessions I've ever done.  Mom and Dad were awesome....and they obviously just adored their brand new baby boy.  Even in one of her emails to me to let me know he arrived, she said "we are just in awe."

Birthday Boy | Indianapolis Family Photographer

Newly turned one-year-old Will got to spend the first hour or so of his birthday morning being a model.  He rocked out a family photo session with mom and dad and then we celebrated with cake...the ultimate reward for a kid!  He may be disappointed during future photo sessions that don't end in cake....so Caitlin and Justin, you may want to keep that in mind (:  Odds are he won't remember this session but the images will live on.

As our families grow over the years, sometimes it's hard to remember what it was like to only have one kid.  I certainly can't imagine it now, having 3 littles running around, but I know it happened.  That first child certainly changes your life, and while you will love future children just the same, there is something about that first one.....they made you a parent, they made you a better, less selfish human being, and they taught you love like none other.  I know this session shows that love........that first child love.  Mama's baby and daddy's little bud.

Benjamin | Sweet Indianapolis Newborn Session

This is not the Bass family's first rodeo - Benjamin is their second child and second boy.  Benjamin and brother Will will have years of playing together, wrestling, fighting, throwing the ball around, and one-on-one games.  But for now, newborn Benjamin is all snuggles and sleep.  It will all go by so fast though and that's why they hired me to capture those snuggles, tiny hands and feet, and the utter cuteness that comes with a fresh babe.  I'll never tire of photographing these newbies because it wasn't too long ago that I was there with my three.  It's so hard to remember but with images like these, they can take you back years from now.

I loved hanging out with parents Sarah and Max. We are all runners so we bonded over that.  By the way, they both are running the Indy Mini in May this year.  Let me repeat that - Sarah whom just birthed a baby in March is going to run a half marathon in early May.  Now I consider myself hardcore but THAT is really hardcore.  Go Sarah!

Anyway, Benjamin had beautiful dark hair, which mama loved. It's a stark contrast of Will who is a blondie.  It will be interesting to see if Ben's hair changes or if it stays dark.  I'm excited to see them again next year for some updated family photos for Ben's first birthday and Will's third birthday.  As you can see, the final images from our session were of Will opening one of his birthday gifts.  The boys share a birthday month!

Thank you so much to the Bass family for trusting me to capture this exciting time!

Baby Will | Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

Sweet baby Will arrived a couple weeks early - I think he was ready to meet his energetic big sister Pensee whom was so sweet with him during his newborn session.  I think the sibling shots from his session are some of my favs.

Also, funny story - I often believe there is a six degrees (or less) of separation rule between my clients and myself, or even with other clients.  Once I get to know my clients they either know someone else I know or know other clients of mine. Come to find out Danny (dad) went to high school with my husband AND he worked with my mother in-law at a school in Avon.

Anyway, Will was such a flexible little squish - curling up so perfectly in my wraps.  The day of our session was actually the first day he could be "free" because he had to be under a special light 24/7 since birth because of jaundice.  I know his mama just wanted to snuggle and hold him since that time had been minimal during his first week.  I'm so glad that was able to end for them and they could get him on a normal schedule.

Thanks to the Gunn family for choosing me for their in-home newborn session!
